1. Introduction

We at ADS GmbH (collectively as “ADS”, “we”, “us” or “our”), including FollowTheQuote.com (hereinafter as “service”, empower anyone to connect with others around what they love about quotes. With that mission comes a responsibility to keep every member safe and happy. Therefore, please read our terms of service carefully, because they apply to every single visitor and member. All visitor and members of the service must be at least 16 years old. We will delete all unauthorized and prohibited content, possibly suspend you for wrongdoing and delete your account completely.

2. Prohibited content

2.1 Copyright and intellectual property

In general, if you post something, you should either own it or have gotten permission to post it. Don’t claim authorship over content that you didn’t create.

2.2 Harassment and hate

Be kind. Communities are about people coming together because they share something in common. We take this very seriously, and explicitly ban:

• Hate speech. Content that attacks or vilifies people based on things like race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability is not allowed. For example, don’t use slurs or epithets, don’t attack profanity, don’t express hatred toward a group of people, don’t glorify the suffering of a group of people and don’t express supremacism.
• Harassment and bullying. Making others feel unsafe is not allowed. For example, don’t share personal information about others, don’t publish content with the intent to embarrass or harm another person, don’t tell someone to hurt themselves or to commit suicide, and don’t create fake accounts to impersonate another person and harass them.
• Threats, violent, or dangerous behaviour. The following types of threats are prohibited and may also result us reporting you to law enforcement or emergency officials. For example, terrorism or mass violence, physical harm or murder, hacking or threatening to others, self-harm or suicide, and blackmail.
• Inappropriate requests for personal data. Don’t make inappropriate or unwanted requests for personal information or photos. Context matters here but, generally speaking, asking for other’s contact information or for them to send you photos is prohibited.

2.3 Spam and self-promotion

We want everyone to enjoy the content and discussions they want. Some activities ruin that experience. Some examples:

• Super annoying, off-topic messages
• Automated posting, messages, comments, or automated anything
• Making the same post, message, or comment over and over again
• Promoting yourself, or anything else about you in a repetitive or impersonal manner
• Promoting anything outside the service

2.4 Sexual content and NSFW

We aren’t going to list off every type of weird thing we don’t allow, but a good rule of thumb is: if you think it’s sexual, it probably is, and it shouldn’t be posted here.

• Nudity is NOT allowed. Art depicting nudity is NOT allowed.
• Explicit and implicit sexual content is NOT allowed.
• Sexual content is NOT allowed.
• Content that encourages or celebrates sexual violence, exploitation, prostitution, or sex trade is NOT allowed.
• Text-based sexual content is NOT allowed.
• To discuss sexual themes and related topics is NOT allowed.
• Any behaviour or content that sexualizes minors is NOT allowed.

2.5 Self-harm

Anything that promotes, glorifies, or encourages self-harm or eating disorders isn’t allowed. If it could intentionally physically, emotionally, or mentally harm anyone, it has no place here.

2.6 Unsafe or illegal content

Content depicting actual illegal, unsafe, or criminal activity is NOT allowed. Some examples of this include anything that could harm minors, dangerous activity involving regulated goods or services, violent crimes or terrorism and self-harm or harm to others. It is also prohibited to offer raffles, sweepstakes, games of chance or merit, or the opportunity to gamble, if you require users to pay in order to potentially win a prize.

2.7 Other kinds of graphic/gross content

Don’t post real gore or graphic violence to shock other members. Don’t post anything that depicts the mutilation, torture, or harm of human beings, animals, or any thinking, feeling being.

To determine whether content crosses the line, we review the general context of the imagery and take things into consideration such as,

• if it depicts actual torture, pain, dismemberment, or violence involving real people or animals.
• if it invokes a feeling of shock, sickness, or pain in the viewer.
• if the content is abnormally grotesque or exaggerated.
• if it depicts bodily fluids.

3. Usage restrictions

3.1 Content of the service

DON’T copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, reformat, delete, reverse engineer, store, cache, aggregate, publish, post, rent, sell, share, sublicense, syndicate, or otherwise provide to others, or use any content obtained on or through this service, in whole or in part.

3.2 Access the service

DON’T access, other than connecting to our service and servers by http requests using a browser, or disrupt, overwhelm, attack, hack, damage, tamper or interfere with, the service including without limitation any content, communications, messaging, programming, hardware and functionality on our service, servers or databases, or impede or interfere with others’ access, visitation, and/or use of the service, in any way or by any means, whether remotely or by access to our personal property, premises, or otherwise, including, without limitation, by using administrator passwords or by masquerading as an administrator while using the service or otherwise.

3.3 Damage the service

DON’T post, upload, transmit, send or otherwise make available on or through the service any software disabling devices, time bombs, trojan horses, cancelbots, viruses, worms, bugs, corrupted files, spyware, adware, malware, malicious programs or code, or devices or defects of similar nature.

4. Use of content supplied by you

4.4 Sources for the images and graphics used in the service:

On the one hand, image material on this site is used from services such as https://unsplash.com, https://pexels.com and https://thenounproject.com. On the other hand, images and text are generated with the help of artificial intelligence and partly edited manually.

5. Moderation

Our team has many tools to help keep communities safe, friendly, and fun. We help members by providing tons of moderation support, especially with inappropriate content. The team reviews content that is reported to us by other users. We also use technology to help us detect policy violations before other users have to report it us. These tools help us look for things like hateful content, dangerous activity, or pornographic content sent on the service. Much of this content is automatically removed to minimize its presence on the service.

We take the safety of our service extremely seriously and work to prevent members from encountering content that violates our terms of service. Although the team will attempt to keep all objectionable posts, it is impossible for us to review all posts. All posts express the views of the members, and neither the owners of this service or the team will be held responsible for the content of any post.

We do not claim any responsibility for the materials posted by the members. Members are solely responsible for the content of their posts. Any member found improper posting will be suspended without warning. Please remember: we will delete all unauthorized and prohibited content, possibly suspend you for wrongdoing, delete your account completely and reserve the right to disclose any and all information deemed necessary to the appropriate authorities.

By agreeing to these terms of service, you warrant that you will not post any content which is hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws and regulations.

8. Grounds for processing

We will only process your personal data if we have a lawful basis for doing so. Lawful bases for processing include consent, contractual necessity and our “legitimate interests” or the legitimate interest of others, as further described below.

We process personal data like email and password as a matter of “contractual necessity”, meaning that we need to process the data to perform under our terms of service with you, which enables us to provide you with the service. 10. Specific third-party service providers

We have enabled Google Analytics to collect data about our traffic through the use of google advertisements and other anonymous identifiers. We use google analytics cookies and other cookies to compile data to better understand users and provide users with a more tailored experience. You can opt out of Google Analytics by visiting Google’s Opt-Out Browser Add-on website.

We use Google AdX to help with managing many of our revenue sources related to online display advertising inventory and allows us to buy and sell ad space on or relating to our services. And our services utilize Google AdSense to promote and manage advertising on those services tailored to our content and audience.

11. Retention of personal data

We retain personal data about you for as long as you have an open account with us and we will retain personal data for the period necessary to fulfil the lawful purposes outlined in this privacy policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. In some case we retain personal data for longer, if doing so is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes or collect fees owed, or is otherwise permitted or required by applicable law, rule or regulation. Afterwards, we retain some information in a depersonalized or aggregated form but not in a way that would identify you personally.
