Happiness – don’t always try to be perfect
The pursuit of perfection is commendable. However, if everything and everyone has to be perfect, this demand creates stress, compulsion and fear. Experts advise perfectionists to pick 1 to 2 things that they do not do exemplary. For example, scrub the living room only 90 percent clean instead of spotless – the last 10 percent is often out of proportion and takes more time than the result is worth in the end. Learn to limit yourself. Do not be a scourge of your compulsions! This is an important habit that you should learn on the path to happiness.
Do you have doubts about yourself, your abilities, the image that those around you have of you? Excessive doubts are like going down a flight of stairs to the basement: with every step you take, it gets darker around you, you feel worse and worse, you forget who you really are. Stop that! Break the descent. Take a piece of paper. On it, write a positive statement about yourself and a goal you want to achieve. Everyone has positive qualities and sometimes even a goal.
Stop negative thoughts and remember something nice
When something is bothering you and you can’t get it out of your head, it’s hard to turn it off. However, there is a trick. If negative or dark thoughts arise, stop them directly by saying to yourself: “No, I will not let this negative stuff rule over me now. I suppress it with other thoughts.” Try to consciously distract yourself. Sometimes a simple elastic band on your wrist helps, flicking it against your skin every time, so that it hurts, to wake you up and mark the stop of negative thoughts. Sounds strange, but it works.
The last vacation, the day at the seaside with your best friend: I’m sure you have a lot of great memories. Think about them when you feel bad. They are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
And which memories bring you positive thoughts and make you smile? I have already traveled so many times that it is not difficult for me to remember good times and places. If you are looking for more cheeky quotes, please have a look at my small collection ‘Ruthless Quotes‘.
